China – Toy Ban

Do not purchase toys “Made in China” is fast becoming the talk in an overwhelming number of social circles across the US and other countries.

China has successfully grown a reputation for itself as the most dangerous toy manufacturer in the world. With repeated and continuous violations of manufacturing toys that are a choking, laceration, lead poison hazards and now toxic “date rape” chemicals applied to their toys, it is no wonder China is becoming known as the “Killer Toy Maker.”

With a list of approximately 800 recalled toys, the US CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) keeps us informed as to the hazards of toys made around the world. Not surprisingly, over 95% of the listed products are made in China.

Here are a few examples:

  • Spin Master Recalls Aqua Dots…Aqua Dots
Spin Master Recalls Aqua Dots – Children Became Unconscious After Swallowing Beads
Hazard: The coating on the beads contains a chemical that can turn toxic when many are ingested. Children who swallow the beads can become comatose, develop respiratory depression, or have seizures.
Coated with the industrial chemical 1,4-butanediol, the chemical metabolizes into the “date-rape” drug gamma hydroxy butyrate, and may cause breathing problems, loss of consciousness, seizures, drowsiness, coma and death.
Supposed to have been coated with nontoxic 1,5-pentanediol, a chemical commonly used in computer printer ink. But that chemical generally sells for three or four times the price of the toxic compound found on the tainted toys, 1,4-butanediol.Curious George

  • Curious George Plush Dolls …
Curious George Plush Dolls Recalled By Marvel Toys Due to Risk of Lead Exposure
Hazard: Surface paint on the toy’s plastic face and construction hat contain excessive levels of lead, which violates the federal lead paint standard.

  • Swimways Corp. Recalls “Skippy” pool toys…Skippy
Hazard: The elastic tongue of the fish can break and forcefully come out and cut the users’ hands during launching of the toy.

  • Magnetix Magnetic Building Set…Magnetix
Magnetix Magnetic Building Set Recall Expanded
Serious Injuries Continue to be Reported to CPSC
Hazard: If a child swallows more than one tiny powerful magnet detached from the plastic building pieces or one such magnet and a metallic object, the objects can attract to each other inside the intestines and cause perforations and/or blockage, which can be fatal, if not treated immediately.

  • Pokémon USAPokemon Recall of Pokém…
    Recall of Pokémon Plush Toys
Hazard: The stuffing of the toy may contain tips of sewing needles
  • Sony Computer Entertainment…
Recall of Certain AC Adaptors Sold with Slim Version PlayStation® 2 Systems
    Hazard:
The recalled AC adaptors can overheat and melt. This poses the risk of fire, burn and shock injuries to consumers.
  • New Easy-Bake Oven Recall F…Easybake Oven
New Easy-Bake Oven Recall Following Partial Finger Amputation
    Hazard:
Young children can insert their hands into the oven’s front opening, and get their hands or fingers caught, posing entrapment and burn hazards.
  • Bendable Dinosaur Toys Recalled…Bendable Dinosaurs
Bendable Dinosaur Toys Recalled by Kipp Brothers for Excessive Lead
Hazard: The recalled toys pose a risk of lead exposure to young children.

If you were a country that wanted to subdue, takeover, or destroy another country, wouldn’t it be a great plan to kill off their children first and then kill as many of the adult population as you could in a conventional war? This would prevent the country from reproducing or seriously limit their chances of procreation leaving them incapable of rebuilding their forces for, at best, many generations.

I think it’s time to stop patronizing a country that builds “killer toys” and boycotting their distributors. What do you think?

  2. This is a great post! It contains a lot of information that all Americans should know about.

Why do we as Americans let this continue to happen? Why doesn’t anyone stand up to our government? How many poisoned children is it going to take to get Americans to stop buying toys from China? How many deaths will it take? Don’t wait until it is too late for your child. It is up to us as parents to protect our children from harm.

  3. Thank you for your comment Sandy. Getting the word out is vital to be effective in a “collective” manner, which is why I hope my readers share as much as possible about the Dragon Tail.

Our government in spirit only is a democracy, but is more of a government of convenience. At times, the public runs the government and the voice of the people reaches the table through our representatives when we want something done or changed. But when politicians want something done, they dictate to us or campaign, or sell us a bunch of lies and half truths to get us to vote for what they want, not what we want.

In the case of the “Made in China” killer toys, our government sees incoming revenue. So they are doing their part by listing all those dangerous toys coming to America and killing or maiming our children and it stops there. It is up to us, as citizens to 1) be aware of the danger, 2) publicly voice our concerns, 3) take action to protect ourselves and our family/friends from harm, then 4) fire the politician who wont act on our behalf by voting him out of office.

If we hire (vote in) a politician to go to work for us based on their resume, and they don’t perform to the level or quality we expected when we hired them, then we should fire them for non-performance (vote out) just like any good employer would do with an employee they hire. They should also lose their benefits when they are fired.

For now, if you see “Made in China” on anything you are about to purchase, it wouldn’t hurt to put it back on the shelf and look for something made in America, or at least a different country. The trade-off is it wont hurt as bad to do that versus the pain of a hurt family member or friend. Also, spread the word. 🙂

BTW, China is also constantly under fire for manufacturing pirated music CD’s, DVD movies, producing counterfeit gems, and counterfeit jewelry sold on ebay.

The best defense is a good offense. Arm yourself with the knowledge to protect yourself and those you care about.

  4. I think “Rocket” said it all…and I’ve been saying it for years (and not just about the toys and things we get in other places), our government may have been by and for the people in the beginning, but with the fast paced lives we lead nowadays, control has slipped into some very self-serving, unseen hands that only wants monetary gain at any cost, and leaves the rest of us wide open for anyone or anything to come in here (USA) and rip us “a new one” at any given time they choose.

  5. Thank you for your comment RegalRose. Our government was formed as a Democracy (literally “rule by the people”, from the Greek demos, “people”, and kratos, “rule”) because we didn’t like the King’s dictatorship in England. So we formed a Democracy, however today that Democracy is all but gone. Our government is now run by special interest groups who fund political campaigns for the election or re-election of a corrupt politician. I could name many starting with Ted Kennedy, but that is a whole other topic.

It turns out we have to educate ourselves and protect ourselves (and not rely on the government to run our lives) and in doing so means sharing knowledge and information. This is what I do. I share because knowledge is power. Power to protect ourselves, power to grow, power to teach, and power to get things done. Even though our government falls short of stopping international trade with a “killer toy” nation (China) we have the knowledge now, the power, to protect ourselves by sharing what we have learned. The government doing anything about anything is now moot, because we, as Americans, can choose NOT to purchase anything made in China. The more people that are given the knowledge, the more powerful the action of boycotting. When people stop purchasing certain products, there then is no market for those products. The market collapses for that company and they are forced to find other ways to be profitable. All with no intervention of our government.

Thank you again for your comment, and hope to see more:)

  6. We are an independant, consumer information website dedicated to ALL recalls, WORLDWIDE !

The last year has seen a huge increase in the number of deadly product recalls!

Spinach, Dog Food, Childrens Toys all get major headlines…But there are problems…

    1. Unless you check several recall websites dutifully daily, there are a lot of recalls you miss, period !!!

    2. Many of our products are from China, hence so many China recalls…But there are many products from other countries you are not aware of, that can do harm…

    3. Information on recalls is confusing, uninformative and sometimes panicky…We hear about a ”peanut butter” recall, and we stop eating ALL peanut, when only one brand is affected.

    4. Relying on T.V, Radio, Newspaper, and all the other 100’s of websites, for your recall information, is a time- consuming, outdated, dangerous way for you to get your recall info.

    5. If you do nothing to EMPOWER yourself to become better AWARE of recalls, you leave your family unprotected…DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THEY ARE AFFECTED, OR WORSE, A STATISTIC…The newspapers are full of salmonella, listeria, ecoli horror stories…

    What to do…

Go to (web address omitted by blog author due to advertising and profiteering).

Click join, and add your email and a password…It’s that simple !!!

Within 24 hours you will recieve your first life-saving newsletter, with a brief description of EVERY recall worldwide !
If one catches your eye, you click on it for more info and pics…
There is also more links and phone numbers, for further research…

We are THE ONLY website to offer our members 100% recall coverage…If there is a recall we don’t know about, we will PAY YOU for it…
This alone saves you the time consuming burden of looking up recalls daily…

But knowing there is a recall[eg. spinach] and knowing ABOUT a recall[eg. Farmers Fresh Spinach, 1kg. Local] are 2 different things !

Try (web address omitted by blog author due to advertising and profiteering) FREE for a month…

THIS IS THE BIG TEST……Every day compile a list of recalls you heard about in the news…In the evening compare that to our recalls newsletter…THE FACT THAT THERE WAS EVEN 1 RECALL TODAY,THAT YOU DID NOT HEAR ABOUT, is the reason for our being…But there is probably several…

Many people will say ”We took your FREE trial, and not 1 recall affected us”

To them we say ”If only 1 recall affected your family THIS YEAR, would it be worth knowing about it??? And quickly???”

    KEEP AWARE…KEEP SAFE…

  7. Ladies and Gentleman, the post directly above this looks like it has good intentions, however, it is a prime example of a scam. They are offering you information that could “save your life” …for a profit. Any time you are asked to spend money to purchase “information” that could save your life, ignore it.

If your life were in danger because you didn’t have “their information” then why are they charging you for it instead of giving it to you as a patriotic American truly concerned about your safety and well being?

Answer: because when it sounds life threatening, then it must be legitimate. If it were legitimate, why are you having to pay for this seemingly “unattainable” information.

Please note in scams like this the numerous misspelled words. This is not indicative of a professional, legitimate business.

I saved everyone the trouble and visited the website of this company to find out it is a company at 553 alfred ave. Winnipeg, MB R2W1Y5 CA.

There is no “who we are” or “about us” or even an address or phone number listed on their website, again unprofessional. (I did however find their address and phone number with my own skills) There is a “Contact Us” page for you to enter all of your personal information, Name, complete address, and email address on an unsecure web form.

Bachewich, Chris is the administrative contact given for this company and fails to return ANY of my phone calls.

If I see complaints about this company pop up across the web, I will redirect this post to a new post entry in the Scam/Consumer Alert category.

    Happy New Year to all.

  8. Unfortunately my zeal to inform consumers has left a bad taste in some peoples mouths…

I considered this when omiting my contact information on my website…

Some people do not want this information to reach the consumer!

Please accept my apologies for spamming your blog!

I have stopped this rookie error.

    Thank you, and take care,

    Chris

  9. Jack or Chris, or whatever name you are using, are you refering to the above post about a website that has absolutely no professionalism, no business address, no credibility what-so-ever? Maybe I missed something, but not having your contact info on that website is the least of the “RED FLAGS” on that spam. Having business contact info IS however, expected.

Think about this when posting a comment: Post a comment related to the topic of the entry, don’t post a press release or ad or spamvertising and call it a topic related post for the discussion. Try and express your thoughts, ideas, feelings, and suggestions in relation to the topic.

This should help you in being a productive, informed, and conscientious blogger.

  10. Ya Jack! Get with the Program….

  11. Fantastic website that helped me a lot in collecting pogs slammers hxxp://pogsslammers[com]

  12. I do agree with all the ideas you have introduced for your post. They are really convincing and can certainly work. Still, the posts are very brief for newbies. May you please extend them a bit from subsequent time? Thank you for the post. effeefbgbedg
